Are You Sure of Heaven PDF Print E-mail

Are you sure that Heaven is yours? Are sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you die you will go to Heaven? Many times when this question is asked, people respond by saying, "well, no one can know for certain. I will have to do my best and wait and see." Did you know that the Bible is written in such a way that when you read it you will find that eternal life is promised? There are only a few things that you need to understand in order to receive this gift that God offers, which is eternal life.

First, you need to understand that you are a sinner. All this means is that you have missed the mark of perfection, which is God's standard. How, you may ask? Well, before we can get to that I need you to understand that the sin that is in you, you were born with. So, if for some reason you think that you have lived a perfect life, you still fall into this category.

Look at Romans 5:12,

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."

Also, Romans 3:23 says,

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

You see, we are caught in an imperfect state and which is totally unacceptable to a perfect God. The Bible tells us that God, who is perfect as He is, is unable to even look upon sin (Habakkuk 1:13).

Second, as we understand that we are sinners we also need to understand that there is a penalty for not being perfect. The penalty is death. I am referring to eternal death.

Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death..."

You and I need to recognize that there is a punishment for not being pure, and it is death. I know, I know, that's not fair. Well before you get mad and stop reading this, look to the third point.

Third, because God is perfect, He knows that we are in need of a Sacrificial Lamb. One that can take away the sin that we are in. You see, no matter what we try to do, whether it's being a good person that never hurts anyone or maybe we pay our taxes on time, or how about we don't lie or cheat... it is NEVER good enough for God (Ephesians 2:8,9). There is only one way to get right with God and that is by His Son Jesus Christ. God sent His perfect and holy Son Jesus to pay the penalty of sin which is death.

Isaiah 53:6,10 says, "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all... Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,..."

Fourth and finally, it comes to you. Now that we understand that we are imperfect and sinful. We also know that the penalty for sin is death (eternal death). We also see that God sent a sacrifice to the earth to save us from this eternal death. This sacrifice is Jesus. Jesus will take away your sin if you believe. Many people think that because Jesus died on the cross it makes them right with God when in reality you must believe. That is the only way to receive eternal life, believe. This is your part.

John 6:47 says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."

All you have to do is believe. Romans 10:9,10 tells us,

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

How do you get right? Believe in Jesus, that He came down to earth and payed the penalty of sin by laying His life down. If you believe that then ask Jesus into your heart here tonight. You may be asking, well how exactly do I do that? It is as easy as reciting this prayer:

God in Heaven, I understand that I am a sinner. I understand that I am not perfect. I need to get right with you and the only way I can do that is by asking you to be Lord over my life. So please take my life into your hands and forgive me. I accept the wonderful gift of eternal life through Jesus not because of what I have done but by what He did for me on the cross. Thank you for your forgiveness and thank you for your gift of eternal life given to me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer and truly believe it, then you are saved and you will rest eternally in Heaven. Welcome to the family of God!
